Learn to Paddleboard on the beautiful Isle of Man and discover our idyllic coastline!
SALTWORKS SUP gives you the chance on the Isle of Man to try one of the fastest growing water sports. With its modern roots tracing back to the 1950's on Waikiki Beach, Stand Up Paddleboarding is known, in Hawaiian, to "Ku Hoe He'e Nulu", which translates to - "to stand, to paddle, to surf, a wave".
Today, Stand Up Paddleboarding has many disciplines from yoga and fitness (it's a great workout) to surfing, racing and even white water.
Michelle Stewardson is a WSA (Water Skills Academy) Foundation SUP Coach and WSA Adventure Guide who has also completed the WSA Rescue and Safety element to be able to deliver Stand Up Paddleboard training and coastal tours on the Isle of Man. SALTWORKS-SUP was formed in 2016 and has gone from strength to strength being the first business, on island, to introduce Paddleboarding on a commercial basis.
Michelle has a background in PADI dive education and training before deciding to venture above the water learning to Paddleboard in 2009. Local experience gained from 14 years as a RNLI ALB crew member and member of the RNLI's National Flood Rescue Team means Michelle fully appreciates that safety is paramount in the delivery of Stand Up Paddleboarding courses and coastal tours.
At SALTWORKS-SUP we are committed to our islands UNESCO Biosphere status and aim to leave no trace by encouraging our guests to collect any marine litter and plastics whilst out Paddleboarding.

Firstly, we do not simply hire paddleboards as we believe the best way to learn is for an instructor to be with you for your entire session.
Our sessions are normally two hours, aside from our family sessions which generally run for an hour. This allows for some beach/land and shallow water practice before we grab the paddleboards. Sessions are a combination of taught elements and individual practice with a short paddle tour. We run our sessions all over the Island as the best location will vary each day due to weather, wind and tides. All sessions/sup safari trips are inclusive of all equipment needed which includes a changing mat, wetsuit, buoyancy aid and cag top, paddleboard with leash
FAMILY FUN SESSIONS- these are an hour long session aimed at younger paddlers as part of a group. We have smaller suits, paddles and boards alongside specific children buoyancy aids and wetsuits for an hour of water based fun, games and gentle introduction to the boards. Please contact for pricing as it will depend upon the ages of the participants.
BEGINNERS- COST £35.00 per person, 2 hours duration.
SALTWORKS SUP's beginner sessions are aimed at the core foundation elements of Stand Up Paddleboarding. It includes an introduction to the equipment, safety and self rescue skills and environmental awareness moving onto controlling the board and the introduction of paddle techniques, initially lying or prone then to kneeling and finally standing up – SUP.
IMPROVERS-COST £35.00 per person, 2 hours duration. (You must have completed the beginner session prior to booking).
SALTWORKS SUP's improver sessions leads on from the beginner session with more technical skills around board control, paddle techniques and enhanced turning skills such as the pivot turn and cross bow stroke.
PRIVATE LESSONS- £80 one to one or £120 for two persons, duration 2 hours.
SALTWORKS SUP can offer individually tailored lessons, again focusing on foundation skills or more technical skills depending upon experience. If you have your own board or recently purchased a board this is the ideal session to develop your abilities as an independent paddler.
SALTWORKS SUP's SUP Safari Trips-£35.00 per person, duration 2 hours approx.
Take a discovery trip around parts of the beautiful Isle of Man coastline, with sheltered bays seals, gannets and puffins to keep you company (if we are lucky!). You will need to have completed a beginner session before booking on our discovery trips. Please contact us or keep an eye on our Facebook page for our next coastal adventure.
